I've lived here in TRNC but not visited the south. But, I'm curious as to how it differs.
I know it's part of the EU, but what other differences (positive and negative) are there?

Best way to find out is to cross the border and see for yourself.

Re: North/South
I probably should have been more specific. I'd like to know:
Is the cost of housing (rent/ buying) the same or different,
taxes
employment and pay rates
municipal services (police, fire, ambulance)
laws (for example... people park on the sidewalks here, is that allowed in the south?)
cost of electricity, water
food
fuel
these are questions that you can't just "go and observe".. I know the look/age of the buildings is similar. And, I think there is more tourism and education in the North.
thanks... perhaps someone who has lived on both sides can provide an answer/opinion.
